Most of my life I have suffered with a weight problem. It wasn’t until I went through the Transitions™ Lifestyle System in November of 2005, that I discovered the problem that had been thwarting my weight loss efforts for so many years. I found out that I suffered from gluten sensitivity. I was able to eliminate gluten from my diet broke through my weight loss plateau and become the fat burning machine that I am today. I’ve never felt healthier, more energetic and passionate about what is now my life’s work – helping others to experience the same success that I enjoyed with this program. I eat a ton of food now, make the right choices, and am able to impact the future health of my family.

The additional benefit to me was the loss of body fat, weight and inches, and the discovery of a body shape and size, that had been waiting for me all my life. Through Transitions™ and over a one year period I was able to lose 35 pounds, 8.8% body fat and 9.25 inches from my waist and hips. In the first six weeks of the program, I lost 2 dress sizes. Today I wear size 4 pants and size 8 shirts. When I started the program I wore a size 10/12 pants and 12 shirts.

I severely injured my back 2 months into the program and during that recovery period I continued to lose more weight and body fat and have maintained my muscle strength/weight by doing yoga.

I’d encourage anyone to investigate this lifestyle system. You can definitely have the health and body that you’ve always wanted if you follow this way of eating and are committed to making a lifestyle change. There should be nothing you feel you’re being deprived of because there are so many choices out there and the scientific research to back the findings that support this way of eating.

All I can say is that you will see overall improved health and perhaps many years added to your life.

Melissa Girtman

My name is Melissa Girtman. About 10 years ago I went into a depression and gained 90 lbs. For years, I was miserable, both physically and emotionally. I could barely get off the couch. I couldn’t physically do many of the things I used to enjoy and missed out on a lot of things with my kids.

Over the years, I tried many things to lose weight. Every time, I would lose a little weight, then gain more right back. Sometimes I would quite because I couldn’t handle the side effects of the products I used—I would get jittery or edgy, lose concentration, or worse.

The last straw for me was a fat blocker given to me by my doctor: it caused me to lose control of my bowels! That was it, I thought. There was no hope. I was going to be fat for the rest of my life! I decided that if I was going to miserable, at least I would have control of my bodily functions! I was done!

Then Transitions came into my life. Thank God. I decided to give this one, last program a try.

So I started Transitions about 3 years ago weighing 240 lbs and wearing a (tight) size 18, with a goal of to getting back down to a 150-lb, size 10. I followed Transitions lifestyle System to a tee (though I’m still working on the exercise part!) and lost 25 lbs in eight weeks!

After only eight weeks, I felt comfortable enough to put on a swimsuit and go swimming with my kids-- for the first time in years!

Transitions has been the easiest system I have ever tried with awesome side effects. I’m healthier than I have ever been! I continued on the system for about 4 more months and easily lost another 45 lbs. The amazing thing to me is how my body composition has changed: I weigh 170 lbs & wear the same size as when I weighed 150 lbs! I’ve lost 70Lbs have no hanging skin! This just amazes me!

My eating habits have changed a lot. I don’t want to eat a whole box of Ding Dongs, in a day, anymore (my kids used to hide them if they wanted any for the next day). I can even take my kids to Dairy Queen once in awhile and not have to worry about gaining weight; my metabolism is back the way it used to be!!

Today my life has completely changed. I barely get to see the couch, mirrors aren’t as horrifying as they used to be, chairs don’t get up with me, and don’t have to shop in the plus size section. I planned on losing some weight, but I didn’t expect my whole life to change!

Not only has my own life changed, but my kids’ lives have, as well. My youngest son is happy that there’s room for him on the couch with me now. Now, we do a lot more together; before I didn’t want to leave the house! These are things most people take for granted-- things and we missed out on for years. If it wasn’t for Transitions we still would be missing out on life.

If this system works for someone like me, it will work for anyone! Transitions worked when nothing else did. Whether you have a lot of weight to lose or just a little bit, this system works. Transitions is a lifestyle change-- for a lifetime!

Fat had become a condition I resolved myself to accept. “Big is Beautiful” and “Love yourself as you are” were the mantras I tried to identify with since my attempts at loosing weight were not working. However, my quality of life and health were becoming issues. Walking up steps was challenging enough with MS but the extra weight made it even more challenging. My youngest son was only 3 and my twin sons were 9. I could not play with them, I could not lay flat, I could not get in the floor. On top of that I was going to have to change from a stay at home mom to a SINGLE mother of 3. That required earning income. To earn income I needed to have energy to be a single mom and work. Fatigue was my worst symptom from the MS. I had to do something to get healthier so I could increase my functional time. Loose weight was the advice of all my physicians.

My attempts at trying to reduce my weight again started in April of 2004. This time, I was not going to try any of the “programs” or supplements because they were not successful in the past with me. Balanced eating and exercise was my method. In June of 2004 I was a size 26. By November, 2004 I was a size 26/28 and 270 lbs. (For the men- that is equivalent to a 52” waist.) (My size was increasing not reducing!)
It was painfully obvious what I was doing was not working! January, 2005 I enrolled in a Transitions Lifestyle class with Lydia Martinez and Maria Grinder in Fort Washington, MD. It was over an hour drive each way for me. In 6 weeks I reduced to a size 18! (47” waist).

During that 6 week class, I gained energy! I was getting up at 6 am without and alarm clock and functioning until 8-9pm at night! I had not had that much energy since 1996. I was able to start my UnFranchise (instead of getting a job.) My moods stabilized and my physical functionality increased which allowed me to better handle the transition of being a single mom.
By August, 2005 I was a size 16. By April 2006 I was a 14! (38” waist) That is when I started realizing Transitions was a lifestyle! So I decided to change my major to Transitions so I could empower and motivate others to make the change to a healthier more productive life.

To date, I have lost 80 lbs and have not had a plateau. I am loosing fat off my legs, my hips, my arms, and my middle every month. I have realized if I don’t exercise, I get moody and have a harder time handling stress. If I eat certain foods (gluten) I feel sluggish and my joints ache. I can roller skate with my sons, jump on the trampoline, outlast them on a 3 hour bike ride, and my flexibility has given me more functionality.

Two years ago, my life seemed to be falling apart, emotionally as well as physically. My children were being teased because of their “big fat” mom. Today, my health has improved so much I forget I do have health concerns. Best of all, my sons’ friends now say they wish their mom could play with them and do what I do with my sons. My sons are also benefiting from the program. They have also reduced from 40” waists to 36” waists. (At age 12 they are taller than me.)
My Market America business has started taking off ! The first key to anyone’s success is their level of commitment. The Transitions lifestyle is not hard- I’m a single mom with three boys and live the lifestyle. Life outside the Transitions lifestyle is HARD! If what you are doing isn’t working and providing you the quality of life you want – you owe it to yourself to make changes and live the Transitions lifestyle!

Thank you to Transitions for your passion to help people improve their health and life.
